halloween fun

i am really excited to share with you my latest project. halloween is my favorite time of year, the spooky feeling in the air, the crisp leaves, and the excitement of family and friends gathering. it is a magical time. i made a darling halloween wreath that is made out of candy corn and styrofoam.

 1. gather all your supplies and heat up your glue gun
 2. begin to glue candy corn around your wreath. it can be a little intimidating when you put your first candy one because if your like me you want it to be purrty perfect!
3. i alternated each way i placed my candy to make a zig-zag affect. once i got the hang of my groove i zoned out and was more of a wreath making zombie! (good thing i had good albums to listen to!)
4. almost done!!

i am really happy at how cute it turned out. this project also gave me a kick start to decorate my house for halloween! if you decide to make your own halloween wreath post pictures let me see your creation. different candies would be cute. (halloween lollipops, pumpkin candy corn)

run with me..

there always is the lingering question that gets asked all the time. "is it healthier to run on the treadmill or to run outside?" in my opinion if your running your getting benefits, but to clear up some of the haze on the question here are a few tips and tricks to both...

---when the weather is glum and running outside requires snow shoes then you are probably better off running on the treadmill.

---when running on the treadmill you lack wind resistance, (which burns more calories) so it is a good idea to put your hill climber on a setting higher than 2.0. 3.5 is a good start and you can adjust from there.

---your on the treadmill not the red carpet so wearing your hair down strutting your stuff isn't going to get you that halle berry booty! (sorry girls, you gotta push yourself)

---running outside you have uneven and unstable ground so your muscles are working harder adjusting to different movements every step. when running on the treadmill run on a interval setting where you do hills, flat roads and sprints. you will get even more fat burning benefits!

---if you have a bad back or weak knees the treadmill offers a slightly less impact.

---always remember to maintain proper running form whenever you run. up straight and relaxed, lean your body forward slightly, shoulders back and chest up (perk up those ta-tas), and try to have a slight bend in the knees. proper running form is crucial!

however you do it or wherever you do it running is a great stress fighting fat blasting exercise! running burns approximately 105 calories per mile for women and 124 calories for men. (link below) so if your run simply 3 miles for 4-5 days a week you are well on your way to dream body land!

cooking for two..

i actually got around to cooking sunday night. i made a delicious vegetable tofu stir-fry, aside from my new wok burning to a crisp and sending my house into a smokey haze it was a pretty good meal. i need to get better at taking more pictures when i am working on my projects. (a task im not the greatest at) so i apologize for the poor quality pictures.

first cut up all your veggies (i found it easier to cut up all my vegetables first and put them in bowls. this made the cooking process go so much easier and faster) i used red+green peppers, onion, garlic, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, sprouts, snap peas and shallots. yummy...
add a little bit of oil or wine into your hot pan and dump the veggies in, cook uncovered stirring occasionally. you want fry them not steam them so leave the lid off. (this is why the wok is good you can simply shake the pan and get an even grill)
set your cooked vegetables aside and add in a pinch more oil and cook up your tofu so it is crispy and golden brown. then set that aside as well.
in a sauce pan simmer together teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, pepper, and a smidge of water. cook your noodles or rice accordingly. (i used annie chun's pad thai noodles. tasted exactly like the restaurant) then put your noodles in your sauce.

after everything is cooked place into one pan, stir, heat up and enjoy with friends! i was lucky to have a date to share my din din with!

this is what happened to my first attempt in my new wok! (burned bottom..)

like i mentioned before i need to get better at taking more pictures during the process. i didn't get a finished product picture. (sad i know) at least this picture can give you an idea. tell me what you think!

catching my breath....

stress has become a common word in my vocabulary. the past few weeks i havent been letting myself live or breath in the day. its from one project to the next. its good to be busy but when it gets to the point of you sacraficing your hapiness, its not worth it. so i am catching my breath. breathing a little deeper and taking care of myself. tomorrow will be the start of something good. a fresh breath and a new take on things. hope all is well with you guys!

falling for fall

I have become quite the big baby over here when it comes to weather. Since moving to a warmer climate my body has become adjusted to the nice weather. So any sign of a slight drop in temperture, makes me pull out my sweats and boots!

Fall is my favorite time of year. Cool weather, crisp leaves, and all the fun that comes with it. I was shopping for Halloween decorations at the end of July (pretty crazy I know). I am still in need of a cute idea for a fall wreath for my front door, any ideas??
